On April 14, during GISS 2026 in Marrakech, LACAC held a bilateral meeting with Japan aimed at strengthening technical cooperation and advancing the implementation of the Memorandum of Cooperation signed between both parties. Japan was represented by Rieko Nakayama, Assistant Vice-Minister for International Aviation; Kei Yamaguchi, Director for Education and Training Planning; Kyoko Sato, Deputy Director of the International Air Transport Division; and Kota Ichihashi, Official of the International Air Transport Division. During the meeting, Japan was highlighted as a strategic partner for the region, and priority areas were identified, including safety oversight, aviation security, environmental protection, and air navigation, with special emphasis on technical training.
