From July 8 to 11, 2025, the Fifty-Ninth Meeting of GEPEJTA/59 was held in San José, Costa Rica, in a face-to-face format with a hybrid opening on July 10 and 11. During the opening ceremony, Secretary Mr. Jaime Binder requested a minute of silence in memory of Mr. Carlos Chacón, Deputy Director of Civil Aviation of Ecuador. The ceremony featured remarks by Mr. Marcos Castillo (Costa Rica), Ms. Azucena Zelaya (LACAC), and Mr. Antonio González Gómez (EASA). As part of Agenda Item 1, the “Safety Promotion – improving safety through awareness raising and changing behaviour” workshop was held on July 8 and 9, delivered by EASA and the EU LAC APP II project, with participation from 10 member States and one observer organization.
