The President of the Latin American Civil Aviation Commission (LACAC), Azucena Zelaya, and Secretary, Jaime Binder, participated in the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Chicago Convention, organized by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) on December 4-5, 2024, at the Hilton Chicago Hotel. During a high-level panel, President Zelaya emphasized the great potential of Latin America and the Caribbean for the development of sustainable aviation fuels. While posing a general question to the panel, she addressed the region’s challenges in accessing climate financing and highlighted the importance of redirecting public and private investments to drive the energy transition in the aviation sector.
