From 20 to 22 October, in Astana, Kazakhstan, LACAC Secretary General Mr. Jaime Binder participated in ICAO Aviation Security Week (AVSEC Week) 2026, where he delivered an address on behalf of Latin America during the opening session. The event brought together government authorities and international organizations to discuss the main challenges facing aviation security. On the sidelines of the event, he met with ICAO Secretary General Mr. Juan Carlos Salazar and held a bilateral meeting with AFCAC Secretary General Ms. AdeSewa Adeyemi. He also met with the host country’s authorities, led by Kazakhstan’s Deputy Minister of Transport, Mr. Talgat Lastayev, who was accompanied by the Chairperson of the Civil Aviation Committee, Ms. Saltanat Tompiyeva, and Kazakhstan’s Permanent Representative to ICAO, Mr. Timur Tlegenov. These meetings reaffirmed the commitment to strengthening interregional cooperation.
